Pacers Fundraiser
Your child is bringing home an envelope from the Pacers.  Please look this over if you are interested in ordering tickets to a game and participating in this fundraiser.

Superkids
We are working in our Sal books all week. We will be focusing on /s/ at the beginning and ending of words. We will also talk about problem/solution, rhyming words, and “slide and blend” 2-letter sounds and 3-letter words. We will finish our Sal book on Friday with the Super Smart and meet the next Superkid on Monday!  The class was very excited to realize this morning that we are halfway through meeting all the Superkids!

Writer’s Workshop
We began learning about the 6-Traits of writing today! We started with Ideas today, and will work through the remaining 5 over the next several days/weeks. We will continue building upon these traits and using them to become better writers! We also have several Superkids writing activities to do this week, including helping Sal make a poster about his “Super Sports Day.”

Math
During math this week we will continue counting to 100, look at different ways to represent numbers, learn a new game to practice reading numbers and counting 1-1, review measurement, and learn about comparing numbers. Don’t forget to keep working on the math home links for each night they are listed on the homework sheet.  Reminder-they do not need to be returned to school. The 50th day of school is on Wednesday, so we will have some fun math and writing activities on this day to celebrate!  Halfway to 100!!

Muffins With Mom
Creekside is holding its annual Muffins with Mom events on Wednesday, November 8th and on Wednesday, November 15th. These events are free. Because we believe turn-out will be large, we have two events:
  • Cub Academy, K-2 students with moms - Wednesday, November 8th from 7:00-7:30 AM
  • 3-4 students with moms - Wednesday, November 15th from 7:00-7:30 AM
Both mornings will be in our gym.
We ask that moms try to attend the event that corresponds with their child's current grade level. However, moms that have children in more than one grade may choose the event that works the best for their schedule and attend one event with their children. Also, if one event works better than the other, moms can attend either event with their son or daughter.
The menu will be muffins and fruit along with fruit juice and coffee.
Please RSVP to attend at https://goo.gl/forms/19ISJSrn9FU8eKNB2 or call 317-346-8800.
The Donuts with Dad events will be March 7th and 9th, 2018 and more info will come out on these events in early 2018.

Sight Words
The word we are focusing on this week is: my.  Please make sure your child can read this word at home, and keep practicing all the words on the homework sheet.

Book It
Don't forget to finish up the October book it reading calendars and send those in next week!  As you finish those up, be sure to send them in.  Anyone who returns with any boxes colored in will get the free pizza certificate sent home, and a sticker on our reading chart.  I will staple the pizza hut certificate to the calendar and send it back home.  The big celebration in class will be getting the sticker on the book it chart.  All students who have at least 5 of the 6 stickers at the end of the program (end of March) will be invited to a special party with me!  Remember, this isn't mandatory, but more to promote a love of reading at home!  I'll send the November calendar home next Wednesday so you can start filling it in!

Have a great week!
