Happy Monday--the last Monday of January!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  I can't believe it's already the end of January!!

Bingo for books
REMINDER--This event is THIS Wednesday!!
Mark your calendars! Creekside PTO BINGO for Books and Pizza Night is this week and you do not want to miss this FREE event at Creekside. Please join us for free pizza and free BINGO on this Wednesday, February 1st from 5:30-7:00 PM in our Creekside Gym. Every child goes home with a new book! This event is FREE and for the whole family and loads of FUN!

CoGAT test
The High Ability practice test and test have been taking up a lot of our time.  Last week we finished the practice test.  This week we are doing 3 tests every day from Monday-Wednesday. They have been doing a great job and I am very proud of this class for working so hard!  We have another test we will take in a few weeks, but then we will be finished!  Please refer to the letter from Dr. Heiden that was sent home a couple weeks ago if you have any questions about this process.

Superkids
Today we began our second half of Superkids!  The "Superkids Club" books continue right where we left off with "Meet the Superkids."  We are still learning about new letters and sounds, how to correctly write each letter, and how to blend the sounds into words.  However, these units will be much more rigorous and the student books contain more pages and activities for the children to complete.

Valentine's Cards
Our party/centers will be Tuesday, February 14 from 1:00-2:00.  Part of the party will include the children opening Valentine cards from their friends.  A class list is in folders today. Please use this list to allow your child to address 23 cards to their friends.  Please include everyone on the list so that feelings are not hurt.  As part of handwriting practice, your child should be the one writing their friends' names as well as their own on each Valentine.  All cards are due no later than Monday, February 13, so we have time to put them in the bags before Tuesday.  Thank you!

Sight Words
Our new sight words for this week are: are, that, do.  Please add these to your practice at home!

Pizza Party
Friday afternoon was our pizza party for counting to 100!  Check out our fun pictures below.

Don’t forget when sending in snacks, please send in something for the whole class.  Please don’t send in drinks, something that requires utensils or eat, or anything that needs refrigeration.  Items like cereal, crackers, fruit snacks, and granola bars are always popular snack choices.    If you could, please send in a package of small Dixie cups with the snack, if it is not individually wrapped. We have 24 students if you send in something individually wrapped.   You do not need to send in one thing per day, just one or two big boxes of something.  Thanks for your help!

Have a great week!
