3 days until Spring Break!

report cards
Report Cards for the 3rd 9 weeks went home on Friday.  Please look for these in your child's folder!  Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I am so proud of the hard work of this class this year!  Keep up the good work at home!

guest day
Final reminder that guest day is Wednesday, March 21st!  Guest day will begin at 1:30.  Guests don't need to arrive much before the start time--they will meet in our room.  Guests and students will be going on a scavenger hunt together!  Right now, I am missing about 3 forms.  Please return or let me know if your child will NOT have a guest Wednesday, so I can pair them with my student teacher or another Creekside staff member.

skating
Don't forget that students will be roller skating during their PE time for 5 weeks, starting after spring break.  Thanks for sending all the forms in!  If you would like your child to wear a helmet during roller skating, please send it in on our PE days (Tuesdays).  Please make sure their helmet has their name on it.

spring break
Just a reminder--we will NOT be in school Friday, March 23-Sunday, April 1 for Spring Break.  Enjoy the break, and safe travels if you headed somewhere (hopefully warm)!

NO Homework
Due to no school Friday, and feeling the Spring Break spirit :) there will be NO homework this week!  Enjoy!  We will resume our normal homework schedule when we return to school on Monday, April 2.  I will be updating the homework sheet starting then with new words for nonsense word fluency and phoneme segmentation fluency.

math at home books
Friday your child brought home the last math at home workbook.  Remember to keep these in a safe place!  These are yours to keep at home and play the fun math games inside whenever you have time!  They are a great way to reinforce the skills we are working on at school.

Superkids Test
Last week we finished our most recent progress test for Superkids.  I sent those test results home today.  Please look over them and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Riley Spirit Days
This week, Creekside will be participating in spirit days to help raise money to donate to Riley.  Any dollar amount donation will allow your child to participate if you want to!  You can donate some each day, or one lump sum at the beginning of the week.  The goal is $1/day, but whatever you can send to donate will help the kids at Riley! What a fun countdown to spring break!
Monday--Hat Day
Tuesday--Silly Sock Day
Wednesday--Glam Day (think dress up, sparkles, the works!)
Thursday--Wear Red Day

Have a great week and a great Spring Break!

Another busy week!

PTO Children's Museum Night
We have an amazing, free, and fun event upcoming this Wednesday. The Creekside PTO Children's Museum Night and Dinner is this Wednesday, March 14th from 5:30-8:00 PM at Creekside. We will start with FREE pizza and drinks for all, and then everyone can head to the gym to enjoy National Geographic Treasures of the Earth from The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, which is described as, "Bring the thrill and science of real archaeological discovery to your family. Become an archaeologist and use clues to assemble Terra Cotta Warriors the way emperor Qin might have done, examine a mystery artifact, and translate hieroglyphs in a pharaoh’s cartouche."

This will be a wonderful event and I hope everyone can bring their family out for a fun and free dinner and then a taste of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis right here at Creekside!  So that we may plan for how much pizza and drinks to purchase, please let us know how many of your family will attend here: https://goo.gl/forms/2NRnfgulN5Xzb6q13

Body Safety Program
This morning we went to a very important program with Ms. Brown about body safety.  Ask your child what they learned this morning!

Clowes Hall Field Trip
Reminder: our field trip to Clowes Hall is TOMORROW!  We will leave Creekside at 8:30, and return between 12-12:30.  Your child needs to bring their lunch tomorrow.  We will miss our regular lunch time, and will be having a picnic lunch in the room when we return.

Superkids
Speaking of picnics, in our Superkids reader, Oswald is the new Supernoodle!  He wants the Superkids to go on a picnic.  Ask your child what happened in the story today, and why the picnic turned into an ODD picnic!

Skating Forms
Don't forget to return the pink PE skating forms by the end of this week.  Even if you can't send in the money, please sign the permission slip and return.  No child can skate without the permission form signed.  We will skate in PE after spring break.  Right now I am missing 6 forms.

Guest Day
Don't forget that guest day is Wednesday, March 21 at 1:30!  Please return the form by Friday letting me know if your child will have a guest or not.  They will be completing a scavenger hunt, so I need to pair students up with a Creekside staff member if no family member can attend.  Right now I am missing 4 forms.  Your child can be a car rider at the end of the day with their guest, as long as you send a note in that day letting me know.  Thanks!

Report Cards
Report cards for the 3rd 9 weeks will come home on Friday.  Please look them over, and let me know of any questions or concerns.  One thing that might come up--if your child has an N for adds and subtracts fluently to 5--most could add, but struggled with the subtraction.  We will keep working on that in the classroom.  I've also switched the addition on the homework sheet to subtraction, so you can practice at home too.

Have a great week!

Book Order
The March book order is in folders today.  If you are interested in ordering, the deadline is March 16th.
Books will probably not be delivered until after Spring Break.

Recess...brrr
I noticed several children were cold at recess today!  Especially those without mittens!  Just a friendly reminder that we go out to recess at 9:45 each day.  If the windchill is 25 or above we will go out.  Today it was right at 25.  Please make sure to keep sending winter coats and mittens on chilly mornings!

National School Breakfast Week
National School Breakfast Week is this week.  Once again we will be offering a free breakfast to all students.  Our free breakfast is Thursday, March 8.   Obviously, your child doesn't have to eat breakfast at school this day if they don't want to, but this free event will be open to all!  The students can choose from Mini Cinnis or cereal on Thursday.  If you do not want your child to get a breakfast at school, please let me know by Wednesday.

Donuts with Dad

Creekside is holding Donuts with Dad events on Wednesday, March 7th and on Friday, March 9th. These events are free. Because we believe turn-out will be huge, we have two events:
·  K-2 students with dads - Wednesday, March 7th from 7:00-7:30 AM
·  3-4 students with dads - Friday, March 9th from 7:00-7:30 AM

Both mornings will be in our gym.  We ask that dads try to attend the event that corresponds with their child's current grade level. However, dads that have children in more than one grade can choose the event that works the best for their schedule and attend one event with their children. Also, if one event works better than the other, dads can attend either event with their son or daughter.  The menu will be donuts and fruit along with fruit juice and coffee.

Have a great week!
