MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Christmas Party
We had so much FUN Tuesday at our Christmas Party! Thanks to all the parents that donated items, or came in and volunteered. We had a surprise visit from Santa, and 4 centers during our party: grinch snacks, Christmas BINGO, Christmas color by numbers, and build a Rudolph.

Christmas Fun

Monday we had a special visitor...Mrs. Claus! She read a story to us, sang a song, gave hugs, and talked about Christmas and the North Pole! The class was very surprised when she walked in!

The Adventures of Twinkle come to a close...

Monday Twinkle wrote us a note in sprinkles!  Guess how many times I had to remind the boys and girls not to eat them?! ;)

Tuesday Twinkle was reading his favorite Christmas stories!

Today Twinkle left us The Polar Express movie to watch, and told us Merry Christmas!  He will be back at the North Pole with Santa when we come back to school in January!

Happy Polar Express Day!
We have had a super fun day today!  Wearing PJs, getting Polar Express tickets and bells, and listening to Christmas music while finishing Ettabetta in Superkids.  This afternoon we are watching the Polar Express movie while drinking hot cocoa!

Your child is bringing a LOT of things home today in folders!  Be sure to check it out!  I hope you and your family has a wonderful Christmas and a great break.  Thank you for a great first semester of school!  See you back when school resumes January 9th!

3 school days left until Christmas break!

Dry Erase Markers
We are running out of the dry-erase markers that we use daily for Superkids and calendar notebooks. If you could please send in any donations of EXPO BLACK Dry-Erase Markers with your child, I would greatly appreciate it!! The fine tip kind in the picture work the best. Thank you!

The Adventures of Twinkle
Thursday--Twinkle was hanging from our flag!

Friday--Twinkle got tied up by some of our stuffed animals!  I think they are a little jealous of all the attention he has been getting from us lately!

Book It
If you want to turn in December book it papers next week so you don't have to keep track of them over winter break, I will give the pizza certificates by Wednesday.  If you want to complete it and turn it in when we get back in January, that is fine too--just don't forget to return it!  I won't send home January book it papers until January 9th when we return from Christmas Break.

Next Week
Monday--will be a pretty "normal" day.  We will work on Ettabetta in Superkids, and addition in math.
Tuesday--Superkids in the morning, and our Christmas party at 12:45.  If you are able and willing to run one of the centers for our party, please email me and let me know!  Thanks!
Wednesday--Polar Express Day!  Superkids and Polar Express centers in the morning, and hot cocoa and watching the movie in the afternoon!  Please have your child wear their pajamas to school on Wednesday.

Holiday donations
If you signed up to donate something for our upcoming Christmas events, there will be a small slip of paper in your child's folder on Monday with what you are to send in.  Please have all donations in by Monday the 19th.  Thanks!

Homework Sheet
No homework sheet next week.  Merry Christmas!

Snack Calendars
I won't send the January snack calendar until we get back from break, so you won't have to keep track of something over the holiday.  We should have enough snacks to keep for the first week back, and then we will continue taking turns bringing in weekly snacks the 2nd week in January.

Have a great weekend!!

brrrr....

Guest Readers
Monday friends from Miss Records' first grade class came to recite their reader's theater play "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" They are practicing for their guest day performance next week. They did a great job, and we were an excellent audience!

The Adventures of Twinkle continue!
Monday Twinkle went fishing like Frits!

Tuesday Twinkle was tied up in our bathroom by the Gingerbread man!

On Wednesday Twinkle made a zip line!

Superkids
Today we met our next Superkid, Ettabetta!  Only one more Superkid to go after Christmas Break!  Here are some questions to prompt discussion at home:
Who is the Superkid? Ettabetta
What does her name start with? /e/ (The short sound that E makes is all we will be working on right now.)
What does Ettabetta like to do? Her puzzle book.

When I updated the online portal to the new unit, I noticed that there are 2 new games and stories!  This would be a great thing to check out over break!

Superkids Progress Test
We finished our next Superkids progress test.  I have those graded, and they are coming home today.  Be sure to check them out, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Winter Weather, Recess, and Snow Boots
Winter is finally here!  And with that, we see a lot of days of indoor recess due to extreme cold and/or a snow covered playground.  On the days that the temperature (windchill included) is 25 or above, we will be going out as long as the blacktop is free of snow and ice.  That being said, we have been stuck inside all week.  Indoor recess can be fun at first, but sometimes becomes mundane for the kids, or can become a problem as the kids get stir-crazy. If your child wears snow boots to school, it is a good idea to send in a regular pair of tennis shoes to change into while at school.  This not only ensures they have proper shoes for PE on Tuesdays, but the boots can also be hard to walk in all day for some kiddos.  Thanks for your help with this.

Have a great rest of the week!
