4 more days until Christmas Break!

Christmas Fun
Monday we had a special visitor...Mrs. Claus! She read a story to us, sang a song, gave hugs, and talked about Christmas and the North Pole! The class was very surprised when she walked in!   Check out our pictures from this event on Facebook!

Holidays Around the World
Today we finished our 3 week unit on Holidays around the world.  Your child is bringing home their suitcase with all of their souvenirs today.  Have fun recounting your child's "trip" with them!

Book It
If you want to turn in December book it papers next week so you don't have to keep track of them over winter break, I will give the pizza certificates by Thursday.  If you want to complete it and turn it in when we get back in January, that is fine too--just don't forget to return it!  I won't send home January book it papers until January 9th when we return from Christmas Break.

Next Week
Monday and Tuesday--will be pretty "normal" days.  We will work on Ettabetta in Superkids, and addition in math.
Wednesday--Superkids in the morning, and our Christmas party in the afternoon.

Thursday--Polar Express Day!  Superkids and Polar Express centers in the morning, and hot cocoa and watching the movie in the afternoon!  Please have your child wear their pajamas to school on Thursday.
**NO HOMEWORK next week! :)

Superkids
Wednesday we met our next Superkid, Ettabetta!  Only one more Superkid to go after Christmas Break!  Here are some questions to prompt discussion at home:
Who is the Superkid? Ettabetta
What does her name start with? /e/ (The short sound that E makes is all we will be working on right now.)
What does Ettabetta like to do? Her puzzle book.

When I updated the online portal to the new unit, I noticed that there are 2 new games and stories!  This would be a great thing to check out over break!

Have a great weekend!

Brr.....

Superkids Progress Test
We finished our next Superkids progress test.  I will have those graded soon, and then they will be coming home.  Be sure to check them out, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Winter Weather, Recess, and Snow Boots
Winter is finally here!  And with that, we see a lot of days of indoor recess due to extreme cold and/or a snow covered playground.  On the days that the temperature (windchill included) is 25 or above, we will be going out as long as the blacktop is free of snow and ice.  If your child wears snow boots to school, it is a good idea to send in a regular pair of tennis shoes to change into while at school.  This not only ensures they have proper shoes for PE on Tuesdays, but the boots can also be hard to walk in all day for some kiddos.  Thanks for your help with this.

Good Cheer Food Drive
The Good Cheer food drive is still going on.  Our basket is getting a few items! Please send in any canned or boxed non perishable food for the food drive!   The drive ends on December 15th when volunteers will be around to collect the baskets.

Homework
Next week:
Homework sheet---yes
R.E.D. folder---yes
fluency builder---yes
There will be NO homework the week of December 18th.  Merry Christmas! :)

Superkids
Monday we met our newest Superkid...Frits!  Frits is a Native American Superkid who loves to fish, but he never has much luck catching anything.  Here are some questions to prompt discussion at home:

Who is the Superkid?  Frits
What does his name start with? F
What sound does F make? /f/
What does Frits like to do? fish

Polar Express Day
Polar Express Day in Kindergarten will be Thursday, December 21.  Children will be invited to wear their pajamas to school, and we will spend the morning doing literacy and math centers that focus around the book and movie.  Then, in the afternoon we will enjoy hot chocolate and watch the movie!

Snack Calendar
Don’t forget when sending in snacks, please send in something for the whole class.  Please don’t send in drinks, something that requires utensils or eat, or anything that needs refrigeration.  Items like cereal, crackers, fruit snacks, and granola bars are always popular snack choices.    If you could, please send in a package of small Dixie cups with the snack, if it is not individually wrapped. We have 24 students if you send in something individually wrapped.   You do not need to send in one thing per day, just one or two big boxes of something.  Thanks for your help!
