Happy December!

13 school days left this semester!

We are in the last push until Christmas and the end of the semester!  I am going to keep things pretty normal this week schedule wise.  The next two weeks will be a little different, with special Christmas activities, NWEA testing 2 days, and DIBELS testing.  For that reason, we will finish our Wonders reading unit this week, NOT start wonders next week until Thursday, and then we WILL finish wonders M-W the last week before break.

Some important dates to note:
12/2--Math test Unit 3
12/3--Spelling test
12/6--NWEA testing
12/7--NWEA testing
12/8--DIBELS testing
12/15--spelling test
12/16--Holiday party in class (more details below)
12/17--PJ day/movie day!

Canned Food Drive
Let's spread some holiday cheer by collecting canned goods for families in Franklin! Items can be brought to school throughout the month of December. All baskets will be collected on December 17th. The top class in each grade will win a popcorn party after winter break. Send in canned goods if you can!

Themed Days
To spread some holiday cheer, we are going to have some fun dress up days the last week before break! This is totally optional, and only if your child wants to participate any of the days.

12/13--red/green day
12/14--Frosty/white day
12/15--favorite holiday shirt day
12/16--Grinch/green day
12/17--PJ day

Important Note--
I will be out of the classroom this Thursday and Friday 12/2 and 12/3. Please put any transportation notes in your child's folder for my sub to get, or call the office with last minute changes so they can send a note down for the sub. Thanks!

Holiday Party
Our Christmas Party is scheduled for Thursday, December 16th. The class will be doing 4 fun stations to celebrate the season! We are looking for some items to make the party special! If you would be willing to donate, please let me know! Donations should be at school no later than Wednesday, December 15th, but can come in any time earlier.

Happy November!

Multiplication Facts

Tonight your child is bringing home their first multiplication facts bag.  There is one bag for each fact family #s2-12.  Please practice the flashcards one time each night. In class, we will be practicing the facts as well.  I do not want to do the timed tests right now, but if students are not memorizing the facts, I will add that in. For now, when your child thinks they have memorized all facts in one family, have them bring the bag back to school.  I will work through the flashcards with them one time.  If they get them all right, they get to move their name tag up the wall and get a new set of cards.  If they miss 1 or more, I will send the bag back home for them to practice more.  They can earn prizes along the way, and a grand prize when they have memorized all multiplication facts through the 12s!  Second semester we will repeat with division facts. Thank you for your help with this at home!

Friendly Reminder

We have had an issue lately with students bringing in dead chromebooks.  Please help remind your child to charge their chromebook each night and return with it to school ready to go the next day!  This will make it much easier to use them during the day for our lessons.  Thanks for your help with this!
