PTO Domino's card fundraiser

It's Domino's Pizza time! Creekside's PTO is selling buy one, get one free Domino's pizza cards again this year. Your child is brought home the order form last week. Cards are $10 each. They do not expire until Dec. 31, 2018 and are good for a free large pizza for every one you purchase--no limits. For every 12 cards you sell you will get 1 for free! All money (cash only) is due back by Wednesday, May 9th. Cards will be sent home with your child 1-2 weeks after the due date. This is a great fundraiser and pays for itself with just 1 use! Please DO NOT send your child door-to-door. Make sure to ask friends, family and co-workers. Maybe even buy a couple extra to give as gifts! Registering for school next year

Parents, don't forget to register your child to attend Creekside next year. All returning students to Franklin Community Schools need to be registered to attend next year. It is quick and easy!!!  Just log on to your Power School Parent Portal.  Click the icon for registering returning students, and complete!  If you need a reminder of your login info or password, please contact the Creekside office.

Snack Calendar

I will not be posting a snack calendar for the month of May.  We have enough leftovers that we can have snack during activity time still and use up what we have left before the end of the school year.  Thanks for donating to our classroom this year!

Kindergarten Awards Day
For those of you who like to plan ahead, Kindergarten Awards day is scheduled for Friday, May 25, from 12:45-2:00 pm. Kindergarten students will need to dress up like their favorite Superkid on this day! Look through the online portal or the Superkids books that have been sent home to get ideas. We will have a Superkids parade through the school that morning. Then at 12:45pm, we will start our program in the gym. All 5 Kdg. classes will sing our favorite Superkids songs, then each child will be called to the stage to receive their Kindergarten diploma from Dr. Heiden. Finally, we will return to the classroom to finish up the day.

Children's Museum Field Trip
Don't forget about our field trip to the Children's Museum!  Money and slips were due Monday, April 30. Like the zoo, we will need MANY parent chaperones to help out with this trip. Please fill out that section of the form if you are interested in joining us!  I am still missing about 4 forms.  Our field trip is scheduled for Monday, May 7th.  Students will need to wear their dinosaur t-shirt (I'll send home Friday), and bring a sack lunch on Monday.

End of Year ABC Countdown
Please check your child's folder from Monday for an ABC Countdown list!
We will be counting down the last 26 days of the school year with an ABC countdown! Our first day will start with Aa on Wednesday, April 25. Check out and save the list so you will know what we will be doing in class each day. There will be a few days that your child will be asked to wear or bring something special for the letter of the day.

Children's Museum Field Trip
I had a parent ask this question and wanted to share in case anyone else wondered as well: If you have a museum membership AND will be going with us that day you do NOT need to send in $1 for your child to ride the carousel.  As long as you are there and have your card with you your child rides for free. 

Keep those permission slips coming in!  So far I only have 11 slips, and only 2 chaperones!  I need more!  Please consider chaperoning our field trip!

This week we are adding three new sight words to practice.  Please add to your practice at home.  The words are: said, was.

Superkids
We finished unit 8 today in The Superkids' Club!  This year is just flying by!  In unit 8, we discussed K and Qu.  We read a play that the Superkids are putting on called The Glum Princess.  We are going to do a Reader's Theater with the play Friday and perform it for some first grade classes.

Math
This week in math we are finishing up unit 8.  We will be working on the following:

• sequencing numbers
• estimation
• addition top-it
• function machines
• roll and record with two dice
• name-collection posters
• addition and subtraction games

Superkids Test
Last week we finished our most recent progress test for Superkids.  I sent those test results home earlier this week.  Please look over them and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Inside Recess-Barbies
My collection of Barbies for inside recess is starting to fall apart!  (Literally--some heads keep popping off!)  If you have any gently used Barbies that are forgotten about at your house, would you mind donating to our classroom for inside recess?  I'd greatly appreciate it!

Creekside Spring Carnival
Tomorrow is the big day! It's Creekside Carnival time! Come join us for all the fun from 5:30-8:30! $12 wristbands available at the door include games, prizes, bounce houses, tattoos, and the Goodie Walk. For an additional fee of .50-$10 you can enjoy cotton candy, sandy candy, the teacher raffle, dunk tank, pie toss, UPaint Pottery, Lickity Slick Snowball Shop and Hillbilly Hot Dogs Franklin! Below is a schedule for the dunk tank and pie toss so you make sure you get to see your teacher joining in the fun. We can't wait to see everyone there!

Welcome back!

Welcome back!  I hope you all had a great spring break!

Book Order
Today I am sending home the April book order.  This will be your last chance to order for the school year (isn't that crazy?!)!  I don't like to do book orders in May, due to the worry of them coming in before the last day of school.  If you are interested in ordering any summer reading, book orders are due April 13. 

Math
This week in math, we will be reviewing 10’s and 1’s, and how to bundle straws to represent 2-digit numbers. We will also work more on addition and subtraction, combinations of 10, and review calculators.  We are also working on a special flower number project to display in the hallway.  Stay tuned for pictures of our completed projects!

Google Expedition
Next Tuesday afternoon, our class will have the opportunity to “go on an ocean safari” by utilizing the Google Expedition Kit. This should be a very exciting experience for all of us! Stay tuned for pictures!

Roller Skating-PE
Our class will be skating each Tuesday in PE for the next five weeks. Please be sure your child comes to school wearing socks on those days. Remember they can bring a helmet or other gear if you wish for them to wear it while roller skating.

Spring Carnival
Don't forget that the Creekside Spring Carnival is Friday, April 13, from 5:30-8:30pm. Come out to enjoy all of the fun…including a dunk tank and Pie-in-the-Face booth! There will also be teacher raffles, bounce houses, games, and more!

Superkids
This week in Superkids we are working on the letter W, unit 7!  I can't believe how quickly time is going!  Lily is the Supernoodle this week.  Ask your child what Lily wants the Superkids to do!

Writer's Workshop
We are going to be busy during Writing time this week!  We are going to work on a special Earth Day writing, Superkids Travel guides, adding titles to our stories, and letter writing.

Countdown to Summer
It sounds crazy to be talking about the end of the school year already, but it will be here before we know it!  We will be doing an ABC countdown the last 26 days of the school year (there are 42 days left after today).  I will be sending a paper home soon with all the info you will need for this!  Most days it is just wearing something special that starts with that letter (S is sunglasses day for example).  Stay tuned!

April Snack Calendar

Don’t forget when sending in snacks, please send in something for the whole class.  Please don’t send in drinks, something that requires utensils or eat, or anything that needs refrigeration.  Items like cereal, crackers, fruit snacks, and granola bars are always popular snack choices.    If you could, please send in a package of small Dixie cups with the snack, if it is not individually wrapped. We have 24 students if you send in something individually wrapped.   You do not need to send in one thing per day, just one or two big boxes of something.
