It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

New Homework Sheet
On Monday, your child's homework sheet will look slightly different.  Since most of the students know all letters and sounds now, instead of practicing them every night, it will be one night a week.  The box will tell you what to do what night.  There will still be the nightly handwriting each day.  With fluency builders, R.E.D. folders, and math sheets, I think that only doing one section a night is enough now!  Please let me know if you have any questions, or suggestions for the homework sheet moving forward!

Madelyn--Champions of Character
Each year, Creekside gets to nominate 10 students to receive the champions of character award.  This award honors students who go above and beyond in behavior, attitude, effort, and work ethic.  As you can imagine, it's hard to select only 10!  But this year, we have a winner from our very own classroom!  Congrats Madelyn!  Madelyn and her family will get to go to the high school basketball game tomorrow night, where Madelyn and the other Creekside winners will be recognized at halftime!  Way to go!

The Adventures of Twinkle the Elf!
Our class elf is back!  Twinkle appeared yesterday!  I can't wait to see what fun he brings to our class over the next three weeks!  What a good writing opportunity to for us to write a sentence every day about where we found him!  I just happened to have special journals ready to go for us to record this info....

Day 1...Twinkle appeared on top of the Christmas tree in our classroom window!
Day 2....Twinkle LOVED checking out all of the cool technology in our classroom.  He even stopped to rest on top of our document camera!

Polar Express Day
Polar Express Day in Kindergarten will be Wednesday, December 21.  Children will be invited to wear their pajamas to school, and we will spend the morning doing literacy and math centers that focus around the book and movie.  Then, in the afternoon we will enjoy hot chocolate and watch the movie!

Smencils
The office is selling Smencils (scented pencils) for $1 next week. If your child buys any, he/she should bring them home in backpacks because we use the bigger pencils in class.

Have a great weekend!
