Windy Tuesday!

Superkids
Monday we started our last letter in Superkids...Zz!  We will work on this unit for a couple weeks, and then take our end of the year progress test.  When Superkids is over, we will work on some end of year special projects, writing activities, and fun reading games.

Sight Words
This week we are reviewing the color words and number words.  Please make sure to practice these at home.  Next week I will assess the class on Quarter 4 sight words.

LAST homework sheet
This week will be the LAST week for homework in Kindergarten!  Please continue to do the homework sheet, R.E.D. folder reading, and fluency builder this week.  I want to allow time for children to enjoy reading for fun, and playing outside (If the weather gets warm again!) during the last three weeks of the school year.  Plus, there will be the special letter days to plan for, and the Superkids costume for Awards day.  It's so busy this time of year, that's enough for you to do for me! :)  Enjoy the no homework time!

Awards Program
Kindergarten Awards day is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, from 1-2pm.  Kindergarten students are all asked to dress up like their favorite Superkid on this day!  Look through the online portal or the Superkids books sent home to get ideas.  Start planning now!  We will have a Superkids parade through the school that morning.  Then at 1pm, we will start our program in the gym.  It is important that all students have someone to celebrate with them on this day!  We will begin with a video slideshow of our year, then all 4 Kdg. classes will sing our favorite Superkids songs, then each child will be called to the stage to receive their Kindergarten diploma from Dr. Heiden.  Finally, we will return to the classroom so students can share their portfolio with your and receive other special awards.  Please have someone plan to attend on this day!  Kindergartners will dress up as their favorite Superkid!  Don't forget to be looking through the online portal or books at home to come up with your child's outfit!  I will post pictures for examples of what the Superkids look like below. We will have Superkids parade in the morning, and our "graduation" program in the afternoon.

Field Trips
Don't forget that our Children's Museum field trip is next Tuesday, May 9th!  If you are signed up to chaperone (we have 12 now--THANK YOU!) please make sure your background check is completed before we leave that day.  If you did one before the zoo field trip, you do not need to do another one.  All students will need to bring their lunch to school on the 9th in a disposable container, and wear their dinosaur t-shirt that we painted in class (it will be send home Monday).  On Tuesday, May 23, we will be doing to Franklin College and the public library.  We don't need chaperones for this day.  All students will need to wear their FC painted shirt (I will send home on the 22nd), bring a sack lunch, and dress weather appropriate to be outside most of the day.

Snack Calendar
I am not going to post a snack calendar for the month of May.  We have enough snacks left over from the past few months that we need to use up before the end of the school year.  Thank you for sending things in when it was your turn to cover our snack during activity time!

Math Celebration
We are almost done with all our math lessons for the year!  Today we are playing a making 10s game.  Tomorrow and Thursday we will plan for an end of the year math celebration.  We will be making invitations, decorations, and planning our own math games.  Then on Friday, we will have our math party with Mrs. Epperson's class in the afternoon!  Starting next week, we will use math time to review the math skills we have worked on this year, play math games, and work on some skills to get ready for first grade (like money and time!).

Have a great week!
