Brr.....

Superkids Progress Test
We finished our next Superkids progress test.  I will have those graded soon, and then they will be coming home.  Be sure to check them out, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Winter Weather, Recess, and Snow Boots
Winter is finally here!  And with that, we see a lot of days of indoor recess due to extreme cold and/or a snow covered playground.  On the days that the temperature (windchill included) is 25 or above, we will be going out as long as the blacktop is free of snow and ice.  If your child wears snow boots to school, it is a good idea to send in a regular pair of tennis shoes to change into while at school.  This not only ensures they have proper shoes for PE on Tuesdays, but the boots can also be hard to walk in all day for some kiddos.  Thanks for your help with this.

Good Cheer Food Drive
The Good Cheer food drive is still going on.  Our basket is getting a few items! Please send in any canned or boxed non perishable food for the food drive!   The drive ends on December 15th when volunteers will be around to collect the baskets.

Homework
Next week:
Homework sheet---yes
R.E.D. folder---yes
fluency builder---yes
There will be NO homework the week of December 18th.  Merry Christmas! :)

Superkids
Monday we met our newest Superkid...Frits!  Frits is a Native American Superkid who loves to fish, but he never has much luck catching anything.  Here are some questions to prompt discussion at home:

Who is the Superkid?  Frits
What does his name start with? F
What sound does F make? /f/
What does Frits like to do? fish

Polar Express Day
Polar Express Day in Kindergarten will be Thursday, December 21.  Children will be invited to wear their pajamas to school, and we will spend the morning doing literacy and math centers that focus around the book and movie.  Then, in the afternoon we will enjoy hot chocolate and watch the movie!

Snack Calendar
Don’t forget when sending in snacks, please send in something for the whole class.  Please don’t send in drinks, something that requires utensils or eat, or anything that needs refrigeration.  Items like cereal, crackers, fruit snacks, and granola bars are always popular snack choices.    If you could, please send in a package of small Dixie cups with the snack, if it is not individually wrapped. We have 24 students if you send in something individually wrapped.   You do not need to send in one thing per day, just one or two big boxes of something.  Thanks for your help!
