Looking Ahead
I am looking for 26 paper grocery bags with handles, or large shopping bags with handles. I need these by Monday, November 25th to prepare for a special Holiday social studies/writing project. If you have any at home you would be willing to donate to our class, please send them my way!
Also, second grade is going to be doing a special Thanksgiving activity on Tuesday, November 26th. The classes will be rotating to each 2nd grade teacher, and completing a special themed activity in each room. We are in need of empty toilet paper tubes for one of the activities--if you could send in any you have before then, we would appreciate it!
Muffins With Mom
Dear Mothers, Grandmothers, Guardians, Significant Women of Creekside Students,
Creekside is holding its annual Muffins with Mom events on Wednesday, November 6th and on Friday, November 8th. These events are free. Because we believe turn-out will be large, we have two events:
- Preschool, K-1-2 students with moms -
Wednesday, November 6th from 7:00-7:30 AM - Grades 3-4 students with moms - Friday, November 8th from 7:00-7:30 AM
Both mornings will be in our gym.
We ask that moms try to attend the event that corresponds with their child's current grade level. However, moms that have children in more than one grade may choose the event that works the best for their schedule and attend one event with their children. Also, if one event works better than the other, moms can attend either event with their son or daughter.
The menu will be muffins and fruit along with fruit juice and coffee.

The Donuts with Dad events will be March 4th and 6th, 2020 and more info will come out on these events in early 2020.
These will be wonderful opportunities for moms to spend quality time at school sharing breakfast.
Don't forget tomorrow is Wednesday! That means Early Release day! Dismissal will start at 1:40.
Math
Here is what we are working on in math this week:
- scaled picture graphs
- exploring multiplication squares
- square arrays
- multiplication facts
- the turn around rule of multiplication
- adding a group strategy
- I am sending home the unit 3 review packet on Thursday. The unit 3 test will be next Thursday, November 14!
Here is what we are working on in Superkids this week:
- words that have oo (both long and short sounds)
- memory words: to, two, too, blue, blew, one, won, four, for, by, buy, good-bye
- homonyms
- quotation marks
- comprehension
- Book Club--Good Night, Good Knight
- Spelling test Friday!
Writing
Here is what we are working on in Writing this week:
- friendly letter writing
- grading our writing using a rubric
- writing a paragraph (at least 4 sentences)
- writing personal narratives
- writing a Thanksgiving themed persuasive letter (look for pictures soon on Facebook of our completed project!)
- Veteran's Day poems
Here is what we are working on in our high ability unit this week:
- homophones and homonyms
- using the hamburger model to write a strong paragraph (introduction, 3 reasons, conclusion).
- literature webs
- analogies
