Happy Tuesday!

Friday, April 16th - Purple Up! for Military Kids Day.  Don't forget to wear purple on Friday and have your child wear purple to school to support our military families!

Early Release

Don't forget tomorrow is Early Release Day!  That means dismissal will start at 1:40.

Writing

Here is what we are working on in Writing this week:

• poetry

• April is National Poetry Month! We will be reading and writing lots of poems the next couple of weeks. At the end of the month, we will be bringing home a book of poetry that we wrote!

High Ability

Here is what we are working on in our high ability unit this week:

• persuasive writing

• researching a topic

• finding answers to questions

• creating a group presentation

• compare and contrast characters

• reading-- The Tale of Despereaux

Math

Here is what we are working on in math this week:

• measuring with a ruler to the 1/4 inch
• extended multiplication and division facts
• factors of counting numbers
• equal shares
• Chapter 8 is short. On Thursday I will send home the unit 8 review packet. Our math test will be next Thursday, April 22.

Wonders Reading

Here is what we are working on this week in reading:

• essential question--What do good citizens do?
• genre--realistic fiction
• phonics--long o, variant vowels, /aw/
• Grammar--possessive pronouns
• vocabulary---suffixes--ful
• writing--realistic fiction
• writing--strong conclusions

• Spelling test on Friday!
