Carnival night!

Math
Here are some of the skills we have been working on in math lately:

  • Money review (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters-counting, exchanging)
  • Place Value-we have done so many different activities to practice and review place value including making 10's and 1's using craft sticks and base 10 blocks.  All of the children should now be able to represent numbers up to 99 using 10's and 1's.
  • Number Scrolls-the children have been writing numbers on number scrolls once they finish other work and have extra time.  Some of our children are up to 300!
  • Addition and Subtraction practice within 10.

NWEA Testing
We have finished testing!  We still have DIBELS testing that will happen on April 27.  The entire class grew so much on NWEA from fall-spring.  I am SO PROUD of all their hard work at school this year.  Thanks for your help at home!

Kindergarten Awards Day
Kindergarten Awards Day will be Thursday, May 19 from 12:30-2:00. Kindergartners will dress up as their favorite Superkid!  All 5 classes will be singing (on the stage in the gym) 6 of our favorite Superkids songs before receiving their Kindergarten certificates from Dr. Heiden.  Prior to returning to classrooms to share portfolios with you, we will watch a short video of some of the highlights of our year in Kindergarten!  Please plan on being here that day to celebrate your child's successes in Kindergarten!  And start talking with your child about which Superkid they would like to be.  You can look through the Superkids books to help plan the outfit/costume.  :)  Families are welcome to attend the program in the gym!

Creekside Spring Carnival--Barnyard Bash
Tonight is the night!  The Creekside Spring Carnival is from 5:30-8:30.  If you didn't pre-order a wristband for your child to play the games and jump in the bounce houses, you can buy a wristband at the door for $10.  I'll be working outside in the back at the petting zoo--stop by and say hi!  Should be a fun night!

Reader's Theater
Today we finally performed The Glum Princess for Miss Records' class.  The boys and girls did a GREAT job!  They were excellent at all the things we have been practicing  this week: reading fluently, with expression, and using a loud voice!  I am very proud of them.  We actually saw Mrs. Nolot's class walking by and she asked if we could perform for them too, so we read our play twice!  Both first grade classes were great listeners too.  It was a lot of fun!

Have a great weekend!
