Halfway through another busy week!

Popsicle Party
Yesterday we filled our first perfect attendance chart with 20 perfect days (no absences or tardies!).  We got to celebrate with popsicles from the office!  Let's fill our 2nd chart soon!

Bucketfiller Party
At the end of the month, Creekside celebrates those students who have done a great job at being bucketfillers!  Students that get nominated by a teacher or staff member get a postcard mailed home, and at the end of the month, they get to go to a party!  At the party they get popsicles, coloring pages, and music while they hang out with other bucketfillers.  In September, Nick and Addison were rewarded, and yesterday for October Tauran, Ava, and Landon were recognized.  Keep up the good work bucketfillers!

Movie Night
The November PTO movie night is scheduled for Friday, November 18th.  Permission slips are in folders today if you are interested in your child attending.

Turkey Homework
Don't forget to have a little Thanksgiving fun this week for homework!  Yesterday in folders you should have found a turkey pattern.  Please help them cut out the turkey      pattern.  Then, help them disguise the turkey so he doesn’t get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner!  I would like to display these in the hallway when finished.  Be creative!  Some ideas in the past have included: princesses, hot air balloons, gumball machines,
basketballs, and more!  Use materials you have at home and have fun!  Please return turkeys in green folders by November 7th, so we can display them.  Thanks!

Fluency Builders
Today your child is bringing home his/her first Fluency Builder Sheet.  The Fluency Builder is used to help increase fluency and speed when reading words in stories.
The Fluency Builder will contain letters, and eventually words, that are found in the Superkids unit we are working on.  Your child will read through the letters or words on the Fluency Builder while you time them for one minute
The purpose is for your child to read as many letters or words as possible in that time.  A big part of Kindergarten is fluency—reading as quickly as we can.  After the minute is up, please draw a line under the last letter or word your child read correctly.  Your child will then read through the letters or words a second time, while you time them for one minute.  See if they can beat their score the second time! After the second time, write the total number read correctly on the score line.  Please don’t spend more than two minutes on this homework each week!  The point is not to spend half an hour sounding out all the words, but instead to practice fluency quickly. Don’t worry if your child is unable to read through the entire list.  Please sign and return the Fluency Builder on Thursday. I will also time your child and send the sheet back home for you to keep.  It counts as a point (word read correctly) if your child sounds out the word  c-a-t OR can read it cat.

Thanksgiving Mini-Feast
Each year Kindergarten celebrates Thanksgiving by having a mini-feast together in the cafeteria.  Be on the lookout in your child's folder NEXT WEEK for information on when the feast will take place, what the children will need to bring in, and how you can help!

Have a great afternoon!
