Rainy Wednesday!

Creekside Cougars
#givingback

Blessing Bag Project

This December, all Creekside students will have an opportunity to make a blessing bag to be given to KIC-it, Franklin Community Schools, and other local outreach programs to distribute during the holiday season.  During their specials time, students will meet in the gym where we will talk about the importance of giving back and helping those in need.  The students will assemble their blessing bag and have a chance to include an encouraging note.  This activity is a great way to challenge our students to be more empathetic and generous, especially during the holidays.

We need your help.  We are asking our local community, businesses, and Creekside families to donate the items for the bags.  Below you will find a complete list of the items needed.  If you are able to donate, please bring items to the office or send them with your student.  We will collect items over the next few weeks.  The goal is 600 bags!

Thank you for helping us with this huge service project.  While academics are a priority at Creekside, we also hope that our students are learning to be kind and caring people, too!  If you have any questions or concerns, please email sherrya@franklinschools.org.

Thanks,
Alysha Sherry

Items Needed:

men/womens socks bottled water
travel-size toothpaste toothbrushes
travel-size shampoo travel-size conditioner
travel-size deodorant travel-size soap
Gallon-size Ziplock bags

RED folders

Don't forget to send RED folders back by the end of eac hweek.  I had to send several reading books home in green folders yesterday because I didn't have that child's RED folder.  Note--RED folders won't come home next week.  No homework due to the short week! :)

Feast reminders
If you signed up to donate something for the feast, please send in Friday or Monday at the latest.  Don't forget each child is asked to bring in a piece of fresh fruit for our fruit salad.  You can send fruit in on Friday or Monday.  You can also make a costume (Pilgrim or Native American) for your child to wear during the feast.  This part is optional, but a lot of fun!

Santa book $
Don't forget to complete the Santa book order and return to school no later than next Tuesday.  Right now I don't have very many turned in!

Holidays Around the World
After Thanksgiving Break, we will be starting a Holidays Around the World unit in Writer's Workshop.  This is the first time I've taught this unit, and I'm super excited!  For 15 days, we will study a different country, and learn about how kids in that country celebrate Christmas.  There will be a passport where they will get a stamp each day, power point, journal writing entry, craft, mini book, and sometimes, a special snack.  If you have any brown paper grocery sacks or paper towel/toilet paper tubes, could you start saving them and sending them in for me?  THANKS!
