sub tomorrow
Just to let you know--I will be out of school tomorrow. I am going to help my husband chaperone his students on their field trip to National FFA Convention in Indy! Mrs. Miller will be the sub, and if you don't know her, she does a great job! The class will be in good hands. :) I have told them not to try to quiz on their multiplication facts. I will take care of those on Thursday. Also, if you have any transportation changes, please send a note to Mrs. Miller, or call the office so they can send a note down at the end of the day. I'm not sure how much email access I will have. See you Thursday!
field trip
Just a reminder that our field trip to downtown Franklin is next Wednesday, October 31. I am still missing about 8 permission slips. Please have those in WITH $1 as soon as you can. We can have 5 chaperones only per class, due to capacity limits at the museum and city hall. If I have more than 5 sign up, I will pick 5 out of a hat. Right now, I have 7 that are interested. I will let you know if you have been picked by the end of this week. But don't worry! We will be going on a field trip to the children's museum in December, and will take AS MANY chaperones as want to come for that field trip!
Muffins With Mom
Creekside is holding its annual Muffins with Mom events on Wednesday, November 7th and on Friday, November 9th. These events are free. Because we believe turn-out will be large, we have two events:
- Cub Academy, K-2 students with moms - Wednesday
, November 7th from 7:00-7:30 AM - 3-4 students with moms - Friday, November 9th from 7:00-7:30 AM
Both mornings will be in our gym.
We ask that moms try to attend the event that corresponds with their child's current grade level. However, moms that have children in more than one grade may choose the event that works the best for their schedule and attend one event with their children. Also, if one event works better than the other, moms can attend either event with their son or daughter.
The menu will be muffins and fruit along with fruit juice and coffee.

- solving multiplication number stories
- solving division number stories
- adding 3 digit numbers using column addition
- adding 3 digit numbers using partial-sums addition
- subtracting using counting up subtraction.
- subtracting using expand and trade subtraction
- estimating using rounding

- words that have oi, oy, oil, or oin.
- memory words: annoy, again, alive, alone, apart, among, afraid, begin, between, because, behind, beside.
- synonyms
- antonyms
- punctuation--commas and periods
- comprehension
- Super Magazine--Lights Out!
Writing
Here is what we are working on in Writing this week:
- 6 traits--Conventions (finger spaces, capitalization, punctuation)
- grading our writing using a rubric
- writing a paragraph (at least 4 sentences)
- writing friendly letters
Here is what we are working on in our high ability unit this week:
- exploring personal changes
- reading the book Frindle
- using the hamburger model to write a strong paragraph (introduction, 3 reasons, conclusion).
- literature webs
- vocabulary webs
